Parents Filing Class Action Lawsuit Against Columbus City Schools Over Busing Issues

COLUMBUS, Ohio-Parents Samuel and Christina Ellis have filed a class action lawsuit against Columbus City Schools (CCS) over the district’s transportation changes, claiming their child was unlawfully denied transportation to a charter or private school and that they were not notified within the required timeline. CCS has denied any wrongdoing, stating their decisions were made in accordance with Ohio law, which allows districts to assess transportation feasibility based on various factors, including time, distance, and costs. Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost has also sued CCS in the Ohio Supreme Court, seeking to challenge the district’s refusal to provide transportation.
