Student’s Fractured Neck Lands Fairfield City Schools in Center of Bullying Conversation Once Again

FAIRFIELD, Ohio-Parents of a student at Creekside Middle School in Fairfield City Schools are demanding action against bullying after their son, Braylon Kline, suffered a fractured vertebra in his neck during an altercation with another student. The incident occurred after Braylon threw a dodgeball at another student during gym class, who then shoved him into a wall.

Braylon’s mother, Jennifer Mangat, stated that her son and his twin brother have been bullied consistently during their time at the school. The school district acknowledged the seriousness of bullying allegations and stated that all claims are investigated. The substitute teacher present during the incident, Jason Evans, was terminated and accepted responsibility for Braylon’s injuries. Both Evans and Braylon’s parents called for the district to take more decisive action against bullying, citing a pervasive problem within the school system. Braylon’s stepfather emphasized the urgency of addressing bullying to prevent further harm to students.
