COLUMBUS, Ohio-A 17-year-old suspect has been charged in the shooting death of 19-year-old Gene Sutton, who was killed on November 3rd near Demorest Road in west Columbus. Sutton, the 100th homicide victim of the year, graduated from The Charles School in 2023 and played football for Linden-McKinley High School. Family members described Sutton as loving, caring, and passionate about anything with wheels. The 17-year-old suspect, who remains in juvenile detention, had his first court appearance, where his attorney denied his involvement in the shooting.
