COLUMBUS, Ohio-The Columbus Metropolitan Library broke ground on the new Marion-Franklin Branch on Monday. The current branch, located in the former Beery Middle School, has been operating as an “express branch” since 2014. The new branch, set to be completed in 2025, will expand from 4,000 to about 10,000 square feet and will be located a few blocks south of the current site. Meanwhile, the current branch will remain open during construction. The library system has recently opened new branches in Gahanna and Reynoldsburg, is renovating the Linden and Barnett branches, and will soon break ground on a new Canal Winchester Branch.
