LIMA, Ohio-Lima City Schools will receive a $1.4 million EPA Clean School Bus Grant to help purchase four electric school buses, which have a total cost of just over $1.7 million. The grant will also fund necessary electrical infrastructure and charging stations. District administrators view this initiative as a step towards sustainability and cost savings, particularly given rising fuel prices. The electric buses will replace four diesel buses and are planned for in-town routes, while diesel buses will continue to be used for longer trips. The goal is to have the new electric buses operational by next year.
