Police Investigating Threatening note that put Elida High School on Lockdown Friday

ELIDA, Ohio-Elida High School was placed on lockdown Friday afternoon due to a false threat after a threatening note was discovered in a bathroom. Police from American Township, Elida, and the Allen County Sheriff’s Office investigated and deemed the threat not credible, but they stayed on site until students were safely released. This incident followed another threat in the district earlier that week. Superintendent Joel Mengerink urged parents to discuss the serious consequences of making threats, as students involved in such incidents face expulsion hearings and potential legal repercussions. Two students were arrested for similar threats at Bath Middle School, and another student was arrested at Findlay Middle School the previous week.
