PEPPER PIKE, Ohio-The Orange Board of Education is considering an International Homestay Experience in Peru for Orange High School Spanish students. The trip is scheduled for Nov. 21-29, 2025, and includes stays with host families in Cuzco, Peru, with visits to Machu Picchu, Puno, Uros Islands, and Lima.
The estimated cost per student is between $3,760 and $3,960, with no cost to the district. Concerns were raised about the timing of the trip and safety due to U.S. Department of State travel advisories for Peru. Board members questioned the itinerary and safety precautions, particularly regarding students being on their own during meals and in certain areas.
