Ohio Senate Wants to Tighten Marijuana Home Grow Rules, Crack Down on Delta-8 THC

COLUMBUS, Ohio-Senate Bill 278, proposed by Senate Republicans, aims to implement reforms to Ohio’s recreational marijuana law, particularly focusing on tightening regulations surrounding delta-8 THC products and home cultivation of cannabis. The bill restricts the purchase of “adult-use hemp products” containing at least 2.5 milligrams of THC per serving to individuals aged 21 and older.

It prohibits smoking or vaping marijuana in public areas where tobacco smoking is prohibited and introduces measures to regulate home cultivation, including prohibiting the sale of home-grown marijuana. Cannabis growers and sellers express frustration over the lack of regulation around delta-8, emphasizing the need for tighter restrictions while preserving the approved recreational marijuana program.
