15-Year-Old Accused of Reckless Driving, Flipping off Drivers, Fleeing Police: Westlake Police Blotter

WESTLAKE, Ohio-On May 30 at 9:20 p.m., a caller reported a reckless driver at Crocker Park, speeding and gesturing aggressively at other drivers. Officers located the described vehicle, witnessed dangerous driving, and attempted to stop it on Crocker Road. However, the driver fled, prompting a pursuit that was quickly terminated due to the suspect’s excessive speed.

Using the suspect’s license plate, officers traced the vehicle to its registered owner’s residence in North Olmsted. The owner revealed that his 15-year-old son had taken the car without permission. The youth was contacted and returned home, where officers explained the consequences of reckless driving and fleeing from the police. Charges, including failing to comply, driving without a license, and reckless operation, will be filed with the juvenile court, as stated by the police department.
