Ohio House Passes Bathroom Restrictions for Transgender K-12, College Students in Late-Night Vote

COLUMBUS, Ohio-House Republicans passed legislation late on Wednesday, adding restrictions on transgender students’ bathroom use to an unrelated bill about high school students earning college credits. The amendment was supported only by Republicans in a 59-32 vote, with all Democrats and two GOP representatives voting against. The bill now moves to the Senate and would require Governor Mike DeWine’s signature to become law. This follows previous legislation in Ohio restricting transgender athletes and gender-affirming care for minors, despite legal challenges and a previous veto by Governor DeWine.
