Catholic Charities Should Pay slain Cleveland Boy’s Family $81 Million, Lawyer Tells Jury

CLEVELAND, Ohio-A lawyer representing the family of 4-year-old Jordan Rodriguez, whose body was found buried in his mother’s backyard in 2017, asked jurors to order Catholic Charities to pay $81 million for its failure to supervise an employee who lied about conducting in-person visits to the boy’s home before his death.

The attorney argued that the worker’s negligence contributed to Jordan’s suffering, emphasizing the lack of supervision and institutional chaos at Catholic Charities. However, Catholic Charities’ lawyer argued that Jordan’s mother and her boyfriend, who are serving prison sentences for his death, are solely responsible.

The lawyer representing Jordan’s family countered, stating Christopher’s claim was prompted by Catholic Charities’ lawyer and contradicted his plea bargain. The attorney emphasized holding Catholic Charities accountable in civil court for their role in Jordan’s death.
