Cincinnati Student’s Art Will go to Capitol Hill After She Won National Competition

CINCINNATI, Ohio-Maeve Lewis, a Cincinnati public school student, has won a national competition, earning the opportunity to display her art in the corridors of Congress. Her winning piece, a 3D diorama depicting a girl falling from a forest, symbolizes the interconnectedness of nature.

Congressman Greg Landsman’s office selected Lewis’s work from numerous submissions, praising its remarkable quality. Lewis, who has been studying at SCPA since kindergarten, feels honored and surprised by her achievement. As she prepares for her high school graduation and plans to study marine biology and art at the University of Miami, Lewis remains grateful for the mentorship and freedom provided by her art teachers. She sees her art as a means of activism and hopes to make a difference with her talents.
