COLUMBUS, Ohio-Dierra Smith, 32, pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter following the death of her 10-month-old daughter, Reign Nall, who drowned in their South Franklinton apartment while Smith left her three youngest children unattended. Franklin County Common Pleas Court Judge Chris Brown sentenced Smith to 10 days in jail and five years of probation.
Surveillance footage showed Smith was away for 51 minutes while her children were alone, leading to the tragic incident. Smith admitted to smoking marijuana that morning but expressed remorse and acknowledged she would not regain custody of her children.
