Caught on Camera: Toddler Spotted Hanging From Sunroof of Moving Car in Cleveland

CLEVELAND Ohio-A disturbing video captured by a 19 News employee depicts a toddler, estimated to be around three years old, hanging out of the sunroof of a moving car. The incident was witnessed near East 55th Street and Kinsman Avenue on April 15. Traffic camera footage obtained by 19 Investigates reveals the child exposed through the sunroof for several blocks.

Cleveland Police Sergeant Freddy Diaz expressed deep concern, emphasizing the seriousness of the situation and the need for responsible care of young children. He highlighted child safety in vehicles, citing statistics on car crash injuries involving unrestrained occupants. Ohio law mandates the use of car seats for children under four years old or weighing less than 40 pounds. Sgt. Diaz warned of potential arrest and prosecution for violators. While not actively searching for the specific vehicle, Cleveland Police urge vigilance and prompt reporting of similar incidents, advising witnesses to note the license plate and contact authorities.
