COLUMBUS, Ohio-Columbus City Schools (CCS) announced plans to transport approximately 102 students whose families requested mediation after the district deemed it impractical to do so initially. The district will add five new routes and adjust 33 existing ones, which may impact pickup and drop-off times for over 1,100 students. This issue has prompted an emergency filing by the Ohio Attorney General’s Office, seeking to compel CCS to transport the students. CCS has filed a motion to dismiss the case, asserting it lacks legal merit. The Ohio Supreme Court has yet to rule on the motions. Concerns have been raised by community leaders about the impact on families, with some reportedly losing jobs due to transportation issues.
