COLUMBUS, Ohio-A group called All in for Ohio Kids is hosting a “tailgate” event on Tuesday afternoon before the Columbus City school board meeting. The event, which will offer free food, aims to bring together parents, educators, and community members to show their opposition to possible school closures.
The board will not be taking action on Tuesday, but the public will have an opportunity to address the board. The event was organized in response to what the group sees as “ineffective divide-and-conquer tactics” by school officials to silence parents and community members. The school district has been considering closing up to 20 schools, and the group hopes to pressure the board to engage with the community before making a decision.
