GREEN TOWNSHIP, Ohio-Due to extreme heat, three Tri-State school districts are taking measures to protect students. Lockland Schools will close its main campus for the rest of the week while students are dismissed early, though staff will remain. The closure is partly due to ongoing construction at the main campus. Oak Hills Local School District is also dismissing students early this week from Oak Hills High School, Delhi Middle School, and Bridgetown Middle School. These schools lack air conditioning, contributing to discomfort during classes. Scott DiMauro from the Ohio Education Association suggests that changes in school scheduling, driven by standardized testing requirements, have contributed to the need for earlier dismissals during heatwaves.
