CCS to Bus More Than 100 Private, Charter Students After Weeks of not Providing Transportation

< 1 min read

COLUMBUS, Ohio-Columbus City Schools will start busing over 100 students attending private and charter schools beginning next week, after not providing transportation since the school year started. This decision follows legal pressure from Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost, who filed a lawsuit to enforce transportation requirements outlined in Ohio law. CCS had previously deemed some routes “impractical,” leading to the suspension of services, but families challenged this decision and sought mediation. To accommodate the new transportation, the district plans to add five new routes and adjust 33 existing ones, which may affect pickup and drop-off times for over 1,100 students. However, specific details about these route changes have not yet been provided.
