Woman accused in North Olmsted child stabbing death ruled competent, trial date set

Bionca Ellis, the woman accused of fatally stabbing a 3-year-old boy in North Olmsted in June, is now competent to stand trial following inpatient treatment at a psychiatric clinic.

Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Judge John Russo announced the determination in court on Tuesday and scheduled Ellis’ trial for July 14.

On June 3, Ellis, 33, walked into a Giant Eagle on Lorain Road with a large knife she stole from a thrift store, police say. She followed Margot Wood, 38, and her son, Julian, out of the store and stabbed them both in the parking lot, according to prosecutors.
