Milford School District Proposes Earned Income Tax Levy: What you Need to Know

MILFORD, Ohio -The Milford Exempted Village School District is proposing a 1% earned income tax on this year’s ballot, stating that failure to pass it could lead to a fiscal emergency by 2027. Superintendent John Spienser clarified that the tax would not apply to pensions or retirement benefits, and would specifically fund operational costs for the district. He noted that it has been 11 years since the district last sought operations funding. If the levy fails, significant cuts are expected, starting with eliminating busing for high school students living within two miles of the school, potentially changing neighborhood schools to reduce staff, and increasing fees for sports.
