FERMONT, Ohio-In February, Raul Z. Alcocer, a 55-year-old Fremont man, was arrested on charges related to the alleged rape of a child. The charges include two counts of rape (first-degree felony), one count of abduction (third-degree felony), and one count of gross sexual imposition (third-degree felony).
The investigation began after a school official reported the accusation to Sandusky County Children Services. Following this, Fremont police and a children’s services investigator interviewed Alcocer twice before his arrest. Alcocer claimed the sexual activity was consensual, but he was arrested on the day of the second interview. The alleged crimes occurred during the child’s holiday breaks from school. Alcocer pleaded not guilty at his arraignment on March 1 and is currently held at the Sandusky County Jail on a $3 million bond. His trial date is set for Sept. 24.
