MT. HEALTHY, Ohio-The Mt. Healthy City Schools Financial Planning and Supervision Commission unanimously decided against reconfiguring schools due to concerns about the associated costs and the district’s fiscal emergency status. Superintendent Valerie Hawkins emphasized that reconfiguration would require a one-time expense and highlighted the current overcrowding issues at the high school.
The state auditor’s office also attended the meeting and recommended against reconfiguration, citing stabilized enrollment. While the teacher’s union is not opposed to the idea in the future, they stress the importance of careful planning. Additionally, the state auditor’s office suggested cutting two bus routes to save money, but the commission tabled the decision to assess potential impacts on students’ transportation.
