BELLEFONTAINE, Ohio-Students from career technical education schools gathered for the SkillsUSA State Championships at the Columbus Convention Center, with around 6,000 participants. Ohio Hi-Point Career Center sent 50 students, some of whom are advancing to the Nationals in Atlanta.
Weston Helman, a Junior in Graphic and Media Arts, ran for State Officer, undergoing a campaign process involving speech, posters, and voting by delegates. Helman secured a position during the awards ceremony. Allison Harlan, a Senior in Graphic and Media Arts, won 1st Place in the Job Interview Contest, which involves application, receptionist interaction, interview, and document preparation. Noah Tappendorf, a Senior in Diesel Technology, placed second in the Diesel Equipment Technology contest. Harlan and Helman are set to compete in the National Competition.
