BOWLING GREEN, Ohio-Bowling Green City Schools will maintain bus service limits set during the previous school year due to ongoing bus driver shortages, as communicated in a letter to families. Students in grades K-5 residing over one mile from school will receive bus transportation, while those in grades 6-12 must live beyond two miles for bus services.
Superintendent Ted Haselman reiterated efforts to recruit drivers, including offering paid training and a $2,000 signing bonus, but acknowledged continued challenges in filling positions. The district aims to hire more drivers to revert grades 6-12 to the one-mile limit and pledges to inform parents of any mid-year adjustments once fully staffed. Despite the inconvenience for families, Haselman expressed regret for the impact on middle and high school students and extended apologies for the difficulties posed by the walking limits.
