AUSTINTOWN, Ohio-Isaiah Barker, a junior at Hoover High School, had a successful day on Wednesday, qualifying for the state track and field meet and winning the Division I regional title in the long jump at Austintown Fitch.
He cleared 22 feet 7 inches, narrowly beating his competitor, GlenOak’s Skylan King. Barker and King have been friendly rivals, pushing each other to perform their best. Despite King holding the state’s best jump, Barker is close behind and optimistic about future improvement as they are both juniors.
