MOUNT VERNON, Ohio-The Knox County Career Center and Technical Center District is proposing a 1.5 continuing permanent improvement (PI) levy for the November 7 ballot, marking the first such levy since 1994. This levy, estimated to raise $2.8 million annually, would cost $53 per year per $100,000 property value. Funds from the levy would be used for permanent enhancements such as building improvements, expansions, lab equipment, and capital projects.
The district, serving communities since 1968, includes a preschool, high school, and adult education center, employing over 210 staff and serving over 630 high school students, 44 preschoolers, and 230 adults. Superintendent Kathy Greenich highlights the potential for larger academic classrooms and additional lab sections as uses for levy funds. The district has been proactive in maintenance and planning since 2015, with a focus on preventative maintenance and strategic growth, having conducted assessments and developed plans.
