CANTON, Ohio-The Eric Snow YMCA in downtown is bustling with children gearing up for day-camp activities, thanks to a $100,000 grant from the Governor’s Office of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives. This grant covers summer programs and YMCA memberships for school-age children. Around 500 kids could benefit from free memberships, provided they are TANF-eligible.
Eligible Stark County families with students in grades K-12 can participate in YMCA summer programs at no cost, with confirmation of TANF status. The grant also supports various YMCA sports camps, leagues, specialty camps, and basketball-skills camps in partnership with the Cleveland Cavaliers. Previously, the YMCA received a faith-based initiative grant for its “Y on the Fly” outreach programs.
