LAKOTA, Ohio-Three Lakota Middle School students are being investigated and accused of assaulting a 13-year-old in the school’s locker room. The incident, which the victim’s grandmother claims occurred in January, involved the victim being taunted, held down, and attacked by the three boys. The grandmother expressed concern that other students witnessed the incident but were afraid to speak up.
One of the suspects was charged with assault on February 15, 2024, while the cases against the other two suspects, who reside in Wood County, are still under review by the Wood County Prosecutor. The superintendent of Lakota Local Schools stated that the school prioritizes children’s safety and education, but the victim’s grandmother criticized the school’s decision to suspend the suspects for 80 days instead of expelling them.
