COLUMBUS, Ohio-In Columbus, police discovered the body of an 8-year-old boy, Martonio Wilder, in his home on Olmstead Avenue after he was reported missing by his mother, LaShanda Wilder. Initially, LaShanda reported Martonio missing, stating he was last seen the previous night. Despite extensive searches including drones and a K-9 cadaver dog, Martonio was found deceased in the attic of his home concealed in a trash bag and sleeping bag cover. Foul play is suspected, and the coroner’s office ruled his death a homicide, noting evidence of “deep neck compression” on the child. Following the discovery, an AMBER Alert was issued for Martonio’s siblings and mother, with the siblings found safe later. LaShanda Wilder and her girlfriend, Johnna Lowe, turned themselves in to police and now face charges—LaShanda with murder and obstruction of justice, and Lowe with obstruction of justice.
