Negotiations Sputter as Norton Teachers Contract is Set to Expire

< 1 min read

NORTON, Ohio-The Norton City School District Board of Education and the Norton Classroom Teachers Association (NCTA) are struggling to reach a new contract agreement before their current one expires on Sunday. Negotiations, which began in May, have stalled, with the main sticking point being teacher salaries and the salary schedule. Board President Jennifer Bennett cited financial constraints as a barrier to meeting the teachers’ demands without causing job cuts or tax increases. Teachers, represented by the NCTA, have expressed frustration and concern, with many attending a recent board meeting to advocate for a fair contract.
