COLUMBUS, Ohio-On a recent summer afternoon, Northland High School in Columbus, Ohio, appeared typical with empty classrooms and locked doors. However, the parking lot hosted I Know I Can’s College & Career Coach, a blue vehicle resembling a food truck. This nonprofit organization helps students from Columbus City Schools and nearby districts with college access, career readiness, and financial aid. During summer, when high school counselors are less available, I Know I Can’s advisers assist students with job applications, scholarships, and understanding financial aid. This year, nearly all of I Know I Can’s 31 advisers chose to work through the summer, providing crucial support to students before the school year resumes.
