BRIMFIELD, Ohio-A middle school student was arrested and charged with making terroristic threats against Field Middle School, according to the Brimfield Police Department. Around 8 a.m., multiple students reported to a school resource officer that the student had made comments during athletic practice about “shooting up the middle school.” Following an investigation, the student was removed from school and later arrested after consultation with the Portage County Prosecutor’s Office. The charges were for making terroristic threats, a third-degree felony. Authorities confirmed that the threats were not directed at any specific individuals and no weapon was present on school grounds. The police emphasized the importance of reporting such statements, crediting the students who spoke up. This incident follows another recent arrest of an 11-year-old from Portage County for similar threats made via text message.
