Nearly 300 boys and girls from across the United States, Canada and Japan converged on Derby Downs in Akron on Saturday for the 87th FirstEnergy All-American Soap Box Derby. Young competitors raced in three divisions – Stock Car, Super Stock and Masters – as they competed for a share of $36,000 in college scholarships from the Bill Speeg Memorial Fund.
