Of the 21 greater Mahoning Valley-area football teams that advanced to the postseason playoffs, 15 are still playing after the opening week of the action. Of course, nine of the area qualifiers had first-round byes last weekend after finishing in the top four of their regions, respectively. Those schools included Austintown Fitch (Division II), Canfield (Division III), West Branch (Division IV), Girard, Youngstown Cardinal Mooney and Poland (all in Division V), Crestview and United Local (in Division VI) and McDonald (in Division VII).
