Medina Voters Reject School Levy

April 9th, 2024-MEDINA, Ohio-In March, voters rejected a 7.5-mill continuous operating levy for the Medina City School District, with 52.72% voting against it. This levy, estimated to cost $263 annually for a $100,000 property, aimed to generate around $14 million annually for the district. The funds would have supported various needs including staff salaries, transportation, curriculum, and facility maintenance.

After a combined bond issue and levy failed in November, the district faced a $12 million shortfall, leading to cuts in staff and supplies for the upcoming school year. Superintendent Aaron Sable indicated that the board would need to reassess the situation following this recent levy’s failure.
