April 16th, 2024-WEST SALEM, Ohio-The superintendent of Northwestern Local Schools, Jeffrey Layton, was placed on paid administrative leave last Thursday pending an investigation by the school board into unspecified allegations. Julie McCumber, the director of curriculum and personnel, was appointed as acting superintendent. Dr. Layton had been with the school for 19 years, and the investigation has been initiated during the 2023-2024 school year.
