PREBLE, Ohio-A Preble County deputy sheriff, Mason Williams, was arrested for allegedly having a sexual relationship with an 18-year-old student while working as a school resource officer. Sheriff Mike Simpson announced the arrest, stating Williams faces charges of sexual battery, tampering with evidence, and dereliction of duty. Williams is held without bond in Butler County Jail at Sheriff Simpson’s request and is on administrative leave.
The alleged relationship occurred off-campus, and authorities believe no other students were involved. Following an internal investigation by the sheriff’s office, the case was handed over to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office for further investigation. Williams was arrested after the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office presented their findings to the Preble County Prosecutor’s Office. He remains on paid administrative leave.
