WARREN, Ohio-A group of 85 fourth-grade students from Warren’s Jefferson PK-8 school met their pen pals at St. Joseph Warren Hospital after exchanging letters throughout the school year. The visit included a close-up view of emergency medical teams responding to critical situations and a tour of the hospital’s Healing Garden.

Hospital President Charlotte Gardiner emphasized the importance of the program in fostering connections and inspiring students to consider careers in healthcare. The students focus on various topics in their letters, such as leadership, friendship, and the importance of reading. Employees like Robin Carpenter, who has been writing to her pen pal Preston since September, see the program as an opportunity to give back and provide students with new perspectives.
