COLUMBUS, Ohio-The Department of Communications and the Division of Literacy launched a short story contest in celebration of National Tell A Story Day, receiving submissions from fourth and fifth grade students across the District. Each story, containing 1,000 words or less, showcased vivid characters, exciting plots, and imaginative themes.
After rigorous judging, the winners of the First Draft: Emerging Writers Competition were announced. Margaret Schroeder from Clinton and Joshua Momoh from Parkmoor were named Grand Champions in the fourth and fifth grade categories, respectively, both earning a PLATINUM achievement with perfect scores. Steven J. Mason Herrera from Scottwood and Asha Mohamed from Starling received Honorable Mentions, each earning a GOLD achievement for their outstanding entries. An e-book featuring all submissions will be shared with the CCS community, celebrating the creativity and talent of the young scholars.
