GRANGER, Ohio-Highland Local School District officials discussed potential disruptions to school schedules due to a shortage of bus drivers for the 2024-25 school year during the March 18 Board of Education meeting. The Ohio School Boards Association Senior Transportation Consultant Doug Palmer presented two scenarios for bus routes.
One scenario involved transporting middle school and vocational school students first, followed by high school and elementary school students. The other scenario focused on transporting elementary school students first, followed by high school and non-public school students. Superintendent Catherine Aukerman highlighted the urgent need for bus drivers, mentioning over 10 potential retirements.
