SOLON, Ohio-Solon City Schools has seen improvements in its transportation services after facing a severe bus driver shortage last spring. The district, which was about five drivers short, had experienced delays and changes to athletic trips. This year, however, the situation has improved significantly. The district now has all 44 bus routes fully staffed and has four additional drivers in training, thanks to a vigorous hiring campaign and community outreach efforts like “Test Drive the Bus.” Despite the progress, the district is still seeking substitute drivers to handle potential absences and retirements, ensuring they maintain their service levels.
