COLUMBUS, Ohio-The Ohio Supreme Court denied an emergency motion from Attorney General Dave Yost to compel Columbus City Schools (CCS) to transport charter school students. This decision came shortly after CCS announced it would begin busing most of these students. Yost criticized the need for legal action, emphasizing that it should not take a lawsuit to ensure the law is followed. He noted that while the situation is improving, many students still lack transportation and that the legal fight would continue. Yost’s office had filed the emergency motion on September 25 to force CCS to comply with transportation obligations after the district announced plans to adjust bus routes. CCS responded by requesting to dismiss the case and informing charter school leaders of the new and adjusted routes. The court has yet to rule on this dismissal request.
