Healthy School District has been approved for an $11 million loan to address a projected operating fund deficit nearing $10.8 million, leading to a state of fiscal emergency declared by the Auditor of the State. This loan will ensure the district can meet its financial obligations for the 2023-2024 school year.
Despite efforts to reduce spending and work with the state, the deficit persisted, leading to the need for fiscal emergency status. The district is undergoing financial supervision, with a commission tasked to develop a plan to eliminate the emergency conditions. Additionally, personnel suspensions and restructuring of administrative positions are planned to address the financial challenges.
