CENTERVILLE, Ohio-In July 2022, Dr. Tom Henderson retired as superintendent of Centerville schools and soon began a new role as the work-based learning coordinator for the Centerville-Kettering-Oakwood Career Tech Compact. At 68, Henderson sought a role with less responsibility and more flexibility to enjoy family time. The Career Tech Compact provides technical education across multiple districts, offering over 15 programs like Allied Health and Automotive Technology. Henderson’s job now involves connecting students with potential employers, managing internships, and helping streamline logistics like student transportation. He also co-authored a grant to support economically disadvantaged students and organizes job fairs.
