COLUMBUS, Ohio-“The Adventures of Gus and Pasha” by local author Cathy Studer is being introduced into central Ohio classrooms to promote children’s mental health during Mental Health Awareness Month. The book focuses on teaching children six habits to build mental and emotional health: perspective, resilience, gratitude, self-compassion, forgiveness, and hope.
Arrowhead Elementary students participated in a special reading and exercises with Studer to learn these important skills. Educators, like first-grade teacher Jen Hedrick, recognize the increasing mental health challenges among children and view Studer’s books as valuable resources. Endorsed by a pediatric psychologist, Studer’s books are adopted into the curriculum of the Central Ohio Boys and Girls Club. The series, following her first book “Broken to Beautifully Whole,” addresses various issues children face and offers solutions to manage anger and anxiety. The books are available on Amazon.com, with plushy characters from the series exclusively sold on Studer’s website.
