BELLEFONTAINE, Ohio-Mrs. Gretchen Powell, a Gifted & STEM Teacher at Benjamin Logan Middle School, has been chosen to participate in the 2024-2025 Teacher Academy sponsored by the Submarine Industrial Base. Encouraged by Sally Stolly, Director of Administrative Services at Benjamin Logan Schools, Mrs. Powell applied during the priority application period, highlighting her commitment to STEM education.
The Ohio STEM Learning Network Teacher Academy aims to empower educators like Mrs. Powell, providing a year-long cohort experience to enhance STEM education in classrooms. Supported by the U.S. Navy’s Submarine Industrial Base, the program offers waived fees and focuses on building a strong STEM culture, integrating design thinking, problem-based learning, and fostering community partnerships. Mrs. Powell and her cohort members will explore best practices in STEM education, including collaboration, inquiry, and industry externships for real-world insights. Stolly congratulates Mrs. Powell on her selection, expressing confidence in her ability to inspire students and colleagues in STEM education.
