PLAIN, Ohio-Since 2018, Spanish teacher Pamela Dentler has led the Más Amor club, offering students opportunities for community service regardless of whether they are enrolled in a Spanish class. The club, with around 40 to 50 participants, focuses on service projects connected to language and culture.
Activities include cleaning trails and cemeteries, participating in charity events, and supporting local food banks. Más Amor also provides students with a chance to practice Spanish through events like Sobre Mesa during lunch. Sophomore Grace McKenna, elected as club secretary, values the opportunity to contribute to the community and spread Spanish knowledge. Dentler emphasizes the club’s inclusivity and the sense of fulfillment students gain from giving back to the community. Meetings are held monthly to plan and organize upcoming events, fostering a sense of camaraderie among members.
