Ohio Schools Change Their Rules About Cell Phones Before a New Law Goes Into Effect

< 1 min read

DAYTON, Ohio-School districts in the Miami Valley and across Ohio are adjusting their rules on cell phone use following new legislation signed by Governor Mike DeWine. While many districts already had guidelines in place, the new law requires all schools to establish rules about cell phone use during school hours.

Various approaches, such as locked pouches or restricting use to outside class time, are being implemented. Despite some opposition from families and students, educators report positive outcomes like improved focus, decreased cyberbullying incidents, and better social interaction. Schools are refining their policies based on state mandates and firsthand observations to ensure an optimal learning environment for students.
