Ohio School District’s Transgender Anti-Bullying Policy Upheld by Appeals Court

LEWIS CENTER, Ohio-A U.S. appeals court upheld the Olentangy Local School District’s policies against bullying transgender students, rejecting a conservative parents group’s attempt to block them. In a 2-1 ruling, the 6th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals determined that the district’s policies, which include prohibiting “misgendering” and using personal devices to harass or intimidate, did not infringe on students’ free speech rights. The case is part of a broader national debate on the rights of transgender students.
