CINCINNATI, Ohio-Before the new school year begins, Cincinnati Public Schools has reported a significant rise in student homelessness. Project Connect has identified 4,304 homeless students in Southwest Ohio, with 2,861 enrolled in CPS, marking a 24% increase from last year. This rise includes students living in shelters, vehicles, storage units, or abandoned buildings. To address this, Project Connect has expanded services, including a new food pantry. Long-term solutions discussed with city officials include more affordable housing, increased rental assistance, and better eviction prevention resources.
